Position: Communities, Localities and Culture Directorate Play Worker x 2
Salary: £20,256 - £22,200 (pro-rata)
Contract: 2 year fixed-term
Hours: Part-time (17.5 hours per week)

Are you passionate about play? Do you believe in the importance of play for all children in an open
access free play environment?

We are seeking two experienced, energetic and creative people as part-time Play Workers in the
award winning Mile End Park.

The Children’s Play Park was opened in 2003 and has benefited from serious investment and cutting
edge design to make it one of the most popular play grounds in the area. It is set within a multi-cultural community
in East London and has a reputation for its inclusive play. It also boasts a state of the art Play Pavilion,
has a new and exciting outdoor play offer with new structures and recently designed outdoor
landscape play environment.

This is a great opportunity for people committed to promoting children’s right to play, and developing
excellent practice. You will need to:

• have a strong commitment to Inclusive Play and experience of working in a play setting
• be adaptable and an innovative person who will thrive on the challenge of providing a creative,
stimulating and adventurous environment for children’s play
• be motivated and experienced enough to take on this exciting and demanding role
• have the ability to work as part of a staff team and ability to support the work of other team
members
• have an awareness of the importance of children’s right and need to play
• ideally have an NVQ Level 3 in Playwork or equivalent qualification, or be willing to undertake this
training within your first year of appointment.
